Pass the Awesome! An experiment about life and the way it moves me |
Welcome everyone! Welcome to my blog(?)! Don't quite know what I'll post, but you will soon find out. I put up a bird feeder outside my apartment yesterday. The birds and squirrels have found it already. Unlike most people, I enjoy feeding the squirrels- they are adorable. I hope to attract all the wildlife in the area. If I can get deer and wild turkey, awesome! If I can get a prehistoric creature to craw out of the pond 30 or so feet from my door then all the better! Now, according to my willingness to try almost anything, I went ahead and tested the birdseed I put out for the birds. First up- Suet cake Apparently suet tastes like suet, which takes like, well, suet. I'm not really a fan, but the humble denizens of nature like it, so good for them! Whole corn It tastes like corn. Not sure what I was else I was expecting, but it has been confirmed, all corn tastes like corn. Songbird blend This tastes like low quality unsalted sunflower seed. Which in part they are. The artificial cherry flavor does add an interesting flavor though, and it smells fantastic Nyjer seed This stuff smells delicious right out of the package. While it may have a strange crunchy texture I was surprised to find it actually was delicious- a very nutty taste. If I was really hungry it would make a great snack, if a little mealy. Those finches no what's up!
